Repair driveway crack, Saline MI

Some of the problems I initially had with my driveway when the road was redone. They had come and repaved over the end of the driveway. And in the process of doing that I had a crack that ran along through one of the expansion joints. Through that crack a lot of water had begun to seep in and it was creating problems both from a drainage standpoint and from an erosion standpoint. The soil was just washing out from under my driveway. And I thought things were going to be ok for a little while, but more cracks started to develop as the seasons went on and ultimately some fine hairline cracks started on the top of the driveway right above the culvert. I could see the pavement was starting to bow over the top of the culvert. So one of my worries was one of those days I was going to come home and have the whole car sink right in, right at the end of the driveway. So I needed somebody to come out and make some changes.

What we did was, we skirted out the edge of the driveway a little bit further. One thing I wanted to do, I had them add-in a little spot right here in front of my mailbox. We were always driving over to pick up the mail and where the mailman would come over, I had to put some stone down there previously. So we added a little pad in that area. Also, we made sure it came up nice and level and flush with the end of the driveway. Sommerset also told me that they wanted to make sure that I didn’t have a lot of wash come back from the road into the driveway. So what we have is a very small grade that comes in from both the driveway and from the road. And then we have a very small grade that takes the water off from the edge of the driveway. They came back after pouring it all and they laid in a couple of nice expansion cuts, we just saw cut those so that if there is any small issue in the future, there is a very small joint that will have to be repaired.
